22. Basic earnings per share

Basic earnings (loss) per share is calculated by dividing profit (loss) for the year attributable to
equity holders of the Company (excluding other comprehensive income) by the weighted

average number of ordinary shares held by outsiders in issue during the year.

23. Segment information

Operating segment information is reported in a manner consistent with the internal reports that
are regularly reviewed by the chief operating decision maker in order to make decisions about
the allocation of resources to the segment and assess its performance.

For management purposes, the Company is organised into business units based on its products
and services.

The Company business operations involve four principal segments: (1) manufacture steel wire
rods and reinforce concrete bar (2) manufacture steel annealing wire (3) manufacture screw and

bolt and (4) trading. These operations are mainly carried on in Thailand.
